WHO THE HECK IS FOSTER KINN?

Foster Kinn is one of my pseudonyms.

My real name is Dwight Bernard Mikkelsen.

I was born and bred several miles outside of Visalia, California, amid the boundlessly fertile farms of the state’s San Joaquin Valley. I am the son and brother of Danish immigrants, the father of three, and the grandfather of four. Fundamentally, I’m a freedom guy, a Classical music composer, and a raconteur who never has enough time to ride my motorcycle.

Speaking of motorcycles, these days I average 15-20,000 riding miles a year and have ridden in all 50 states of the United States, 7 Canadian provinces and one Canadian territory. And I did all those miles with the same motorcycle (the Beast), the same helmet, and the same pair of boots. (And with the way I smell sometimes, you’d think I did it all with the same pair of socks!)

These travels are recounted in my first two books, Freedom’s Rush and Freedom’s Rush II, each of which is an Amazon Bestseller.

My third book – a killer read, by the bye – is the highly acclaimed novel, The Poet, The Professor, and The Redneck.

My fourth book is The Truth – a Gathering of Short Stories. Twelve of the stories are fiction, the last one nonfiction. It contains tales of despair, hope, and solace; of grit, violence, love, and the nerve to be.

In addition to being a writer and rider, I have been a professional musician, arranger, orchestrator, and composer my entire adult life and have arranged or orchestrated for many artists including Quincy Jones, Barbra Streisand, Chicago, and Whitney Houston. I have also worked as a music copyist on hundreds of films and TV shows.

My primary musical love, however, is Classical with a particular interest in ballet. My two full length, orchestral ballets, Thumbelina and The Legend of Jack Frost have never failed to delight all ages.
